Exceptional 1950s Gibson Bayh for Gump’s two piece evening ensemble, made of high quality cream colored silk jacquard with Asian inspired motifs. The tailored sleeveless top has ribbons that tie atop each shoulder and a zipper down the back. The dramatic full skirt has a fitted waistband, creating the quintessential postwar “New Look” silhouette created by Christian Dior. The skirt is lined with a vibrant red taffeta and zips down the back.

This label is particularly noteworthy: Frederick Gibson Bayh was Gump’s custom fashion designer who was known for creating luxurious, individually designed garments and frequently worked with Asian silks and jacquards. His work is now represented in museum collections, including the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

In excellent vintage condition, there are just two small spots, one on the blouse and one that hides in the volume of the skirt. See photos. No other flaws to note.
